KUCHING: Sarawak gymnasts are entering a packed competition period with renewed confidence as the Sarawak Amateur Gymnastics Association (SAGYMA) rallies its athletes ahead of key national assignments.

SAGYMA president, Johnny Tan Seng Hock, has urged the state’s gymnasts to stay focused, trust their preparation and embrace the opportunities ahead as they gear up for both the National Gymnastics Championships and the upcoming Malaysia Games (SUKMA) in Selangor.

“Wishing the very best of luck to all our gymnasts who are currently pushing hard in their final preparations.

“Some are gearing up to take on the challenge at SUKMA Selangor, while others are stepping onto the floor to gain invaluable competition experience and exposure.

“No matter your goal, our greatest hope is to see personal growth and progress from every single one of you. Trust your training, stay focused, and leave it all on the carpet. Shine bright and smash it,” he told Sarawak Tribune when contacted.

Sarawak will send a contingent of seven gymnasts, accompanied by one coach and one team manager, to compete at the National Championships scheduled from May 21 to 23 at Gym 2, National Sports Complex.

The championship is expected to provide an important platform for the athletes to sharpen their routines, gain exposure and fine-tune performances ahead of the SUKMA campaign.
