TEBEDU: The 4th Regiment Royal Armoured Corps (RAC) have stopped an attempt by seven Indonesian men in smuggling 240 litres of herbicides via the illegal border track (lorong tikus) near the Tebedu Immigration, Custom, and Quarantine Complex (ICQ) on Wednesday.

According to the 4th RAC Commander, Lieutenant Colonel Mohd Nizam Masri, the arrests were made by his men who were patrolling the Tebedu sector.

“At around 3.00pm, the army personnel detained the suspects at the illegal border track near the ICQ Tebedu. At that time they were heading back to their home country.

“During the inspection, the suspects, aged between 33 and 59 years old, were carrying 240 litres of herbicides, kept in 30 4-litre containers and six 20-litre plastic barrels, valued at RM9,900,” he said in a statement here.

Mohd Nizam said one of the suspects was found to have entered the country illegally while the remaining six suspects had valid travel documents.

“All seven men as well as the seized items were taken to Tebedu Police Station for further action,” he said.
