KUCHING: Four semi-permanent houses were destroyed in a fire at RPR Batu Kawa Phase 1, Lorong 18, here today (May 25).
The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said it received an emergency call at 11.49 am before teams from the Batu Lintang and Kota Sentosa stations were dispatched to the scene.
Upon arrival, firefighters found the houses already engulfed in flames.
“The upper portions of all four houses were destroyed, while the lower sections sustained water damage,” said a Bomba spokesperson.
Firefighters carried out fire break operations to stop the flames from spreading to a nearby house.
The Kota Sentosa team conducted extinguishing works from the rear of the fire scene, while Batu Lintang firefighters carried out fire break operations from the front.
The blaze was brought under control using water from a nearby hydrant before overhaul works were carried out to ensure there were no remaining hotspots.
No injuries or fatalities were reported.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
