PADAWAN: A total of 517 recipients from three villages here have received their land titles under Section 18 of the State Land Code involving 684 lots.
Mambong assemblyman Datuk Dr Jerip Susil said the achievement was made possible through close cooperation between villagers and the authorities in the surveying and measurement of Native Customary Rights (NCR) land in the constituency.
“I would like to express my gratitude and appreciation to all those involved for their cooperation in the land survey work in these villages.
“Special thanks go to community leaders, villagers, the Dayak Bidayuh National Association (DBNA), and the Land and Survey Department (LANDAS),” he said in his speech at the land title presentation ceremony at Kampung Garung, here this morning (May 26).
Meanwhile, 1,440.3 hectares of land have been gazetted under Section 6 of the same code for Kampung Abang involving 496.7 hectares and Kampung Emperoh Karu covering 943.6 hectares.
However, Dr Jerip said the work remains ongoing as several villages are still applying for land survey and measurement.
“We are taking this seriously and will continue to assist the community to ensure the survey and measurement work is completed.
“As such, I advise every village committee to adhere to the guidelines set by DBNA and LANDAS so that the work can proceed smoothly without any disruption,” he said.
He emphasised that the ceremony was significant in strengthening public trust and confidence in the Sarawak government’s efforts to recognise NCR land titles.
“Do not be influenced by negative perceptions regarding NCR land issues, as this will disrupt our progress and efforts.
“I would also like to share that the gazetting of NCR land is ongoing in several villages and will continue until completion.
“However, time is needed to address the challenges and limitations we are currently facing,” said Dr Jerip.
