BETONG: The Betong League 2026 campaign will kick off on June 6 with eight teams set to battle for top honours and a RM5,000 champion’s prize.
Betong Division Football Association (BDFA) honorary secretary Saiful Hanizam Suhaini said the participating teams in Group A are Spaoh United, Landa Betong, Crossover FC and Makarion FC.
Group B comprises Pusa District FC, Hermanos FC, KSRB and Bijat FC.
“The briefing and draw session took place last weekend. All eight participating teams were divided into two groups (A & B),” Saiful told Sarawak Tribune.
According to Saiful, two matches will be held on the opening day, with Spaoh United taking on Landa Betong at the Betong Sports Complex at 2 pm.
This will be followed by a match between Pusa District FC and Hermanos FC at the same venue at 4 pm.
Meanwhile, two more matches will be played on June 7 at the same venue.
“Makarion FC will face Crossover FC at 9am, while Bijat FC will take on KSRB at 3.30pm,” he said.
Saiful said attractive prizes await the top three finishers in this year’s competition.
“The champions will receive RM5,000 in cash along with a trophy and medals. The runners-up will receive RM3,000 in cash in addition to a trophy and medals,” he explained.
The two losing semi-finalists will each receive RM1,000 in cash and medals as joint third-place winners.
At the same time, Saiful said the league also serves as a platform for players to showcase their talent.
He added that the tournament is an ideal avenue to identify promising young players who can be developed to higher levels.
