SIBU: The N54 Pelawan Service Team recently distributed food baskets to underprivileged families, reaffirming its commitment to supporting vulnerable groups and fostering a caring community.
Led by Pelawan assemblyman Datuk Michael Tiang Ming Tee, the outreach initiative aimed to ease the daily burdens faced by families in need while spreading warmth, compassion and community spirit.
Through the programme, recipient families received essential food items and basic necessities, providing much-needed relief and support.
Tiang said such initiatives not only help alleviate financial pressures but also strengthen social bonds and encourage greater awareness of the needs of vulnerable groups within society.
He expressed hope that the effort would inspire more individuals and organisations to extend a helping hand and contribute towards building a more compassionate and inclusive community.
Tiang added that community outreach programmes would continue, with the service team remaining committed to understanding residents’ needs and assisting families facing hardship.
He also emphasised that compassion transcends race and religion, expressing hope that every act of kindness, no matter how small, can provide encouragement and strength to those navigating life’s challenges.
