KUCHING: Ten junior golfers from Sarawak Golf Club (KGS) have been selected to represent Sarawak at the National Schools Sports Council (MSSM) Golf Championship 2026 in Sabah from June 9 to 11.
The golfers will compete in the Under-18, Under-15 and Under-12 categories at Sabah Golf and Country Club, Nexus Golf Resort Karambunai and Sutera Harbour Golf and Country Club.
KGS club captain Roland Phang said the players earned their places in the state squad through their performances at the KGS Junior Masters Championship in April.

“For all our junior golfers, this is much more than just a golf tournament. It is a journey and an experience that you will remember for life,” he said during a press conference at Sarawak Golf Club on Thursday (June 4).
Roland encouraged the young golfers to embrace the opportunity and make the most of the experience.
“I encourage you all to enjoy every moment of this experience, make new friends, learn from each other, embrace the competition and create memories along the way.
“Win or lose, remember that being selected as a Sarawak representative is already an achievement. Wear the Sarawak colours with pride, demonstrate good sportsmanship and always give your best effort,” he added.
The KGS contingent will depart for Sabah on June 6 and begin preparations at the championship venues on June 7 ahead of the three-day tournament.
Roland noted that many of the golfers have already gained valuable exposure through local and international competitions, providing a strong foundation heading into MSSM 2026.
As part of the club’s support programme, each golfer received a RM150 allowance, three team shirts and two tubes of golf balls ahead of the championship.
