SIMUNJAN: Two teenage girls were killed after a Perodua Myvi collided with a suspected broken-down lorry on Batang Sadong Bridge here early this morning (Jun 9).
The fatal crash occurred at around 6.30am along the bridge, and firefighters from Simunjan station were dispatched to the scene about 20km away.
The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said the impact caused two female passengers to be thrown out of the vehicle.
Both victims were pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics, and their bodies were handed over to the police for further action.
One of them was identified as 19-year-old Nurfazilah Ramli while, the identity of the second victim has yet to be established.
The driver of the Myvi, a 30-year-old man, sustained injuries and was taken to hospital for further treatment.
Meanwhile, the lorry driver, a 22-year-old man, escaped unharmed.
The team also carried out flushing works to remove oil spills and debris from the road to ensure the safety of other road users.
The team ended the operation at 9.29am.
