BAU: A private clerk was left with more “fake love” than genuine concert plans after being cheated of RM1,388 while trying to buy a ticket for BTS’s upcoming world tour concert in December.

The 39-year-old had been eagerly anticipating the chance to see the global K-pop sensation perform live when she came across a Facebook advertisement offering BTS World Tour tickets.

Bau police chief Supt Mohd Haide A. Rahman said the victim spotted the advertisement under the name “Gold Tix” on Jun 3 while at her home.

The advertisement offered concert tickets at RM1,388 each and included a link that connected interested buyers directly to a WhatsApp number.

“Interested in purchasing a ticket, the woman began communicating with an individual who identified herself as Putri Nur Gita.

“After agreeing to purchase one ticket, the victim was instructed to transfer payment to a Touch ‘n Go account. She subsequently transferred RM1,388,” he said.

Mohd Haide said the victim was later asked to purchase two additional tickets but declined, explaining that she only needed one for herself.

Shortly after refusing the request, the victim discovered that she had been blocked by the suspect.

Realising she had been cheated, the woman contacted the National Scam Response Centre (NSRC) before lodging a police report yesterday (Jun 9).

Further checks found that the phone number linked to the suspect had been associated with several police reports lodged in five different districts.

The case is being investigated under Section 420 of the Penal Code for cheating and dishonestly inducing the delivery of property.
