KUCHING: Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA) remains committed to strengthening education as a means of producing outstanding individuals capable of excelling in various fields at both the national and international levels.

Deputy Minister of Rural and Regional Development (KKDW), Datuk Rubiah Wang, said education has always been the fundamental pillar in shaping the future of individuals, families and society.

“Therefore, MARA provides quality educational opportunities to nurture a generation that is knowledgeable, skilled and equipped with strong values and character.

“Education is not merely about producing students who excel in examinations, but about developing well-rounded individuals with strengths in knowledge, leadership, entrepreneurship, technology and personal character,” she said.

She was speaking at the 2025 Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) Outstanding Students Awards Presentation Ceremony held at Dewan Kenyalang, MRSM Kuching earlier today (June10).

Meanwhile, a total of 22 students from Maktab Rendah Sains MARA (MRSM) received the 2025 SPM Outstanding Student Award after achieving 9A and 8A results in last year’s examination.

The achievement also contributed to the college recording a Maktab Average Grade (GPM) of 2.635, with four subjects showing improvements in their School Average Grade (GPS), namely Bahasa Melayu, English Language, Islamic Education and Moral Education.

“The success we celebrate today belongs not only to the students but also to their families and educators who have devoted their love, energy and sacrifices throughout the students’ academic journey.

“Congratulations to all recipients of the MRSM Kuching Excellence Awards. May this achievement serve as a catalyst for even greater accomplishments in the future.

“Continue striving and pursuing knowledge, as this state needs the talent, expertise and leadership of a new generation to drive Sarawak’s development in the years ahead,” she said.

Speaking to reporters later, Rubiah revealed that two students have secured sponsored scholarships to further their studies overseas, while several others have received offers to pursue higher education at local universities and other institutions.

“MARA is always committed to ensuring that students are given opportunities to continue their studies at the next level in accordance with their academic achievements,” she said.
