KUCHING: Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK), Mile 10 here continues its efforts in fostering a cleaner, healthier and more harmonious living environment by organising a community park clean-up (gotong-royong) on Sunday.
Initiated by the JKKK, the programme brought together community leaders, residents, RELA members, and the Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) Public Health Team to strengthen community-government cooperation.
Batu Kitang assemblyman Datuk Lo Khere Chiang, expressed his appreciation to JKKK Mile 10 for taking the initiative to organise meaningful community activities that encourage civic responsibility and neighbourhood engagement.
“Clean and well-maintained public spaces can only be achieved through the collective efforts of residents, community leaders, and local authorities.
“The active role played by JKKK Mile 10 demonstrates the importance of grassroots leadership in creating a caring and responsible community,” he said.
Lo said that community development also builds strong social bonds among residents while promoting volunteerism, and instilling a sense of ownership and pride in the community.
He further commended the cooperation extended by RELA and the MPP Public Health Team, whose participation contributed significantly to the success of the programme.
The clean-up activity focused on the maintenance and beautification of the community park, including litter collection, clearing of overgrown vegetation, and general environmental upkeep to ensure that the park remains safe, clean, and enjoyable for residents of all ages.
Lo reiterated his commitment to supporting community-driven initiatives and encouraged more residents to participate in future programmes that contribute towards community wellbeing and environmental sustainability.
The programme reflects the strong partnership between JKKK Mile 10, government agencies, and local residents in promoting a cleaner environment and fostering a stronger sense of community spirit within the Batu Kitang constituency
