KUCHING: Rumpun Silat Sarawak (RSS) has strengthened the backbone of its competition structure after producing a new batch of certified ‘Wasit Juri’ officials through the National Wasit Juri Course for the Southern Zone 2026.

Held from June 13 to 16 at Sarawak Plaza, the four-day programme saw participants complete Levels 1, 2 and 3 certification, equipping them with the technical knowledge and practical skills needed to officiate silat competitions at various levels.

RSS said the newly certified ‘Wasit Juri’ personnel would play a key role in maintaining officiating standards and supporting the smooth conduct of future tournaments, while ensuring a continuous pipeline of capable officials for the sport.

“Senior ‘Wasit Juri’ members will continue to mentor and guide the newly certified officials to further improve their competency, professionalism and understanding of technical regulations.

“The successful completion of the National Wasit Juri Course reflects RSS’ ongoing commitment to producing knowledgeable, skilled and dedicated technical officials in support of the continued development of Silat in Malaysia,” the association said.

Special appreciation was extended to PESAKA facilitator, Shahrul Hisham Ngah Ramli, as well as the instructors, organisers and participants whose commitment contributed to the success of the programme.

The course concluded with a closing ceremony officiated by RSS Assistant Secretary-General, Abbas Hamzah, marking another step in the organisation’s efforts to expand and strengthen its pool of qualified technical officials.
