SIBU: The Lions Club of Sibu Pahlawan (LCSP) ushered in a new leadership term with the successful conduct of its presidential handover ceremony at Borneo Mega Cafe here recently, where outgoing president, James Wong Ha Seng, officially passed the mantle of leadership to incoming president, Boston Ho, for the fiscal year 2026-2027.

The symbolic handover saw Wong presenting the presidential gavel and bell – emblems of the president’s authority and responsibility in presiding over club affairs – to Ho, signifying the formal transfer of leadership and the commencement of a new chapter for the club.

Present to witness the ceremony was Lions International District 308-A2 governor-elect, Datuk Jimmy Tie Hien Hwa, for FY 2026-2027.

The ceremony was attended by members of the Board of Directors, fellow Lions, and distinguished guests.

In his farewell address, Wong expressed heartfelt gratitude to the board members and club members for their unwavering support, cooperation and trust throughout his tenure.

“The achievements of the club over the past year would not have been possible without the collective dedication and commitment of our members. I sincerely thank everyone who has contributed their time, effort and passion towards serving our community,” he said.

Wong also conveyed his confidence in the incoming leadership team, encouraging them to continue upholding Lions Clubs International’s motto, ‘We Serve’, through impactful community service projects and charitable initiatives that address the needs of society.

Meanwhile, Ho, a lawyer by profession, pledged to build upon the strong foundation established by previous leaders and to lead the club with unity, purpose and dedication.

“I am honoured by the trust placed in me and look forward to working closely with the newly appointed Board of Directors and all members. Together, we will continue strengthening our fellowship, expanding our service efforts and reaching out to those who need our assistance the most,” he said.

He added that the club would remain committed to promoting volunteerism, fostering teamwork among members and enhancing its role in community development through meaningful and sustainable service programmes.

LCSP’s members also reaffirmed their commitment to supporting the incoming president and Board of Directors as they carry forward the club’s mission and vision.
