BETONG: Swift actions by a homeowner and villagers prevented a fire from spreading and destroying a house in Kampung Medang Sepauh early this morning (Jun 23).
The blaze occurred at around 6.10am and was only confined to the kitchen of the non-permanent house.
Residents managed to extinguish the flames using available water sources before emergency responders arrived.
The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said about 15 percent of the house was damaged in the incident.
A family of five comprising a couple, two children and a baby was living in the house. No injuries or casualties were reported.
The team later carried out inspection and monitoring works to ensure the fire had been completely extinguished and that there was no risk of reignition.
The operation ended at 8am.
The cause of the fire and losses incurred are still under investigation.
