SRI AMAN: The Langkang Ulu Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK) has been allocated RM50,000 by the Sarawak government to strengthen community economic development through a local oil palm cultivation project.
Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas said the allocation is intended to encourage the Langkang Ulu community to continue expanding its oil palm cultivation project, which benefits local residents.
“The success of the oil palm cultivation project undertaken by JKKK Langkang Ulu proves that well-planned economic initiatives can improve residents’ income and standard of living.
“I hope this allocation will serve as a catalyst to further expand the initiative so that more residents can benefit from it, while strengthening the community’s economic development,” he said in his speech when officiating at the Ngiling Tikai Gawai Dayak 2026 celebration held at Rumah Kennedy, Langkang Ulu, Engkilili on Sunday (Jun 28).

He added that the Sarawak government will continue supporting community development initiatives that empower rural economies, create more income-generating opportunities, and improve public well-being sustainably.
JKKK Langkang Ulu was previously recognised as the recipient of the SMART Community Silver Award 2024 following its successful implementation of the oil palm cultivation project through the Village Community Friends Programme (SKOD).
The recognition reflects the ability of rural communities to strengthen local economies through close cooperation, effective management, and active community participation.
Also present were Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian, Deputy Minister for International Trade and Investment Datuk Dr Malcolm Mussen Lamoh, Lubok Antu MP Roy Angau Gingkoi, Betong MP Richard Rapu, Senator Susan Chemerai Anding and Engkilili assemblyman Dr Johnical Rayong Ngipa.
