MIRI: The Taste of Borneo Cultural Carnival (TOBC) 4.0 has been recognised by the Malaysia Book of Records (MBOR) for hosting the Most Ethnic Associations in a Parade.
The award recognises the carnival’s largest-ever participation of ethnic associations in a cultural parade, one of TOBC’s signature attractions showcasing the unique heritage of Borneo’s diverse communities.
The recognition was announced during the carnival’s opening ceremony, officiated by Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg at the Boulevard Open Car Park here last night (July 4).
The ceremony also featured cultural performances by participants from Sabah, Brunei, Indonesia and Yunnan Province, China, reflecting Borneo’s rich cultural heritage while fostering international friendship and cooperation.
Several memoranda of understanding (MoUs) involving ethnic associations were also signed during the event, alongside the formalisation of a friendship city partnership between the Miri City Council and the Lijiang Municipal People’s Government of China.
The collaboration is expected to strengthen cooperation in culture, tourism and bilateral relations.
