SIBU: Hong Kong’s Victory VC held their nerve in a five-set semifinal to edge Selangor Spring Fox 3-2 and punch their ticket to the Sarawak International Volleyball Invitation (SIVI) 2026 final, where they will face Indonesia’s JTeam VC in Tuesday’s title decider.
Victory VC prevailed 25-22, 14-25, 25-16, 9-25, 15-8 in an entertaining contest that saw momentum swing throughout the match before the Hong Kong side produced a composed display in the decisive fifth set.
The opening set went to Victory VC, who edged Spring Fox 25-22, but the Selangor outfit responded emphatically to level proceedings with a 25-14 victory in the second set.
Victory VC regained the advantage by claiming the third set 25-16, only for Spring Fox to force a decider after dominating the fourth set 25-9.
With a place in the championship match at stake, Victory VC stayed composed in the tiebreak, pulling away late to seal a 15-8 victory and complete a hard-earned 3-2 win.
The victory also sets up a mouth-watering showdown against tournament favourites JTeam VC, who boast a star-studded roster led by Thailand international Kuttika Kaewpin and Indonesian standout Shindy Sasgia Dwi Yuniar.
Earlier in the tournament, Victory VC head coach Jason Mak Tsz Chun spoke fondly of his team’s experience in Sibu, saying they had enjoyed both the local food and the friendly atmosphere throughout their stay.
Now, however, the focus shifts entirely to volleyball.
Victory VC will take on JTeam VC in the women’s final at 12pm, while Selangor Spring Fox will face Nova VC in the third-place playoff at 10am, bringing the curtain down on the four-day international tournament.
