BAU: Police arrested a local man during a special operation targeting online gambling activities in the district on Thursday (Jul 9).
Bau police chief Supt Mohd Haide A. Rahman said the suspect was detained at about 3pm by officers from the district Criminal Investigation Division (CID).
He said police seized a smartphone believed to have been used for online gambling activities during the operation.
“The suspect was arrested together with the seized item to assist investigations under Section 4B(a) of the Common Gaming Houses Act 1953,” he said.
Mohd Haide said police would continue intensifying operations to curb gambling activities, particularly those involving online platforms.
He also reminded the public not to participate in any form of illegal gambling, warning that firm action would be taken against those who violated the law.
He urged anyone with information on gambling activities to report the matter to the police for further action.
