KUCHING: Kuching City FC defenders Jimmy Raymond and Rodney Celvin have earned call-ups to the Harimau Malaya squad for the AFF Hyundai Cup 2026 following their impressive performances last season.

Bintulu-born Jimmy and Serian-born Rodney were among 26 players selected by national head coach Tan Cheng Hoe for the centralised training camp, which begins on July 15, ahead of the regional tournament from July 24 to Aug 26.

They were named alongside other defenders including Alif Ahmad, Dominic Tan, Faris Danish, Ubaidullah Shamsul and V Ruventhiran in the national squad.

The duo played key roles in Kuching City FC’s memorable campaign last season, helping the Cats reach the Malaysia Cup final for the first time in the club’s history.

Both defenders featured in the final against Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT), where Kuching City FC finished runners-up after a 2-0 defeat, but their consistent displays throughout the competition earned them national recognition.

Their call-up marks another milestone for Kuching City FC and Sarawak football, with the club continuing to produce players capable of competing at the highest level.

Malaysia have been drawn against Thailand, the Philippines, Myanmar and Laos in the AFF Hyundai Cup 2026, with Jimmy and Rodney now hoping to make their mark as they fight for a place in the national team.
