MIRI: National junior elite golfer, Joshua Lim Zhi Xing, kept his title hopes alive after climbing into joint third following the second round of the 23rd Sarawak Premier Cup Sarawak International Junior Golf Championship at Eastwood Valley Golf & Country Club on Wednesday (July 15).

The 17-year-old Kuching golfer improved on his opening-round 77 with a three-over-par 75 for a two-round total of 152, sharing third place in the Boys A category with Sri Lanka’s Kaiyan Jai Algama Bede Johnpillai (75-77) heading into today’s final round.

Thailand’s Pranai Reankrai tightened his grip on the championship after following up his opening even-par 72 with a one-under-par 71 to open a six-shot lead over Jarvis Liew Jun Xin in the Boys A standings.

Pranai also maintained a one-shot advantage in the overall boys’ standings over Mohamad Danish Mohamad Rizal, who heads the Boys Special category on a two-round total of 144.

Meanwhile, National Junior Development Programme elite golfer, Nurlyana Yasmin Ruzkinain, moved into a share of the overall girls’ lead after carding a second-round 72 to sit level with Thailand’s Namon Luangnitikul on 144.

Nurlyana also leads the Girls A category, one stroke ahead of Ngo Yi Belle, while China’s Xu Shiman tops the Girls C division after two rounds.

A total of 53 golfers qualified for today’s final round as the battle for the championship enters its decisive day.
