KUCHING: Organisers have capped attendance for ITOK FEST 2026 at 6,000 people as strong early ticket sales signal growing interest in the cross-border music festival.
Festival director and VM Global Events’s Managing Director, Salleh Mohidin, said only 5,000 tickets would be sold while 1,000 complimentary passes would be distributed through giveaways.
“We have set this limit because we do not want to compromise on safety. Overall, the festival capacity is 6,000 people, including recipients of complimentary tickets,” he said.
Salleh said this to the media at the launch of iTOK Fest 2026 at Plaza Merdeka here on Wednesday (July 15).
He said ticket purchases have already been recorded from Sarawak, Sabah, Kuala Lumpur and Indonesia, encouraging organisers to urge the public to secure tickets early.
He noted that the festival was conceived through collaboration between Malaysian and Indonesian partners who share a common passion for music, culture and contemporary entertainment.
According to Salleh, the increasing number of Indonesian visitors to Kuching also inspired organisers to introduce a festival celebrating stronger cultural and entertainment connections between both countries.
Meanwhile, Indonesian viral act Silet Open Up has been confirmed as the festival’s headline performer, marking the group’s first appearance in Sarawak.
ITOK FEST performance director, Rezki Ananta Putra, said Silet Open Up was selected following the success of its viral hit Tabole Bale and growing popularity.
He said festival-goers could also expect interactive performances, with Silet Open Up inviting audiences to sing and dance together during the live show.
Besides Silet Open Up, the festival will feature Robokop, Warga Koplo, Naki, Drasska, DJ Rocatz and Ziji.Q when ITOK FEST 2026 takes place on Oct 3.
