Singer Shila Amzah has confirmed that she plans to relocate her family to China by the end of next year as her career in the country continues to gain momentum.

The 36-year-old revealed that she has recently received a new contract offer, which is currently being reviewed by her legal team before it is finalised.

The ‘Patah Seribu’ singer said the decision to move is also driven by her desire to spend more time with her children instead of constantly travelling between Malaysia and China.

“Recently, I’ve been travelling to China very frequently. After spending three or four days there, I return to Malaysia and only get to be with my children for two or three days before leaving again.

“While I’m away, my mother and stepfather help to look after the children. Although I have a helper, I still need people I can truly trust to care for them.

“So we’re hoping to relocate by the end of next year because the constant travelling has become exhausting.

“I’m also preparing to sign another contract, but I’m not able to reveal the details just yet. What I can say is that it’s a long-term agreement,” she said.

Shila also dismissed suggestions that the move was motivated by the belief that her talent is more appreciated in China than in Malaysia.

Instead, she said every career decision she makes is guided by the opportunities that come her way.

“It’s not because fans there appreciate me more. If that were true, I wouldn’t still be producing Malay-language albums here. My fans in Malaysia are just as important to me.

“I actually lived in China from 2012 during my first marriage and stayed there for almost eight years. I later returned to Malaysia, and then the COVID-19 pandemic happened, so there simply weren’t any opportunities for me there at the time.

“So it’s never about being appreciated more or less. Wherever the opportunities are, that’s where I’ll go.

“I’ll continue trying to strike a balance between my career in China and Malaysia. If I could split myself in two, I would have done it long ago for my fans,” she said.
