DARO: A newly completed RM5-million mosque in Kampung Tebaang here is set to enhance Islamic activities and provide a more comfortable place of worship for up to 1,000 residents.

Named Masjid Al-Umran, the mosque was officially opened by Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg today, marking another milestone in the Sarawak government’s efforts to strengthen Islamic institutions, particularly in rural areas.

Before officiating at the ceremony, the Premier, together with distinguished guests, performed Friday prayers at the mosque.

The modern facility is expected to serve as more than just a place of worship, it is also as a centre for community engagement through religious, educational and social programmes for residents of Kampung Tebaang and surrounding areas.

The construction of Masjid Al-Umran reflects the Sarawak Government’s commitment to providing quality public facilities that support both physical development and the spiritual wellbeing of the people.

The mosque is also expected to become a hub for Quran classes, religious talks, knowledge-sharing sessions and welfare activities that bring together the local community.

The development aligns with the state government’s aspiration to ensure balanced growth by combining infrastructure improvements with human capital development and community wellbeing, especially in rural Sarawak.
