KUALA LUMPUR: Setel is encouraging businesses in Sabah, Sarawak and Labuan to adopt digital fleet fuel management as the Subsidised Diesel Control System (SKDS) expands across East Malaysia.

The company said its Cardless PETRONAS SmartPay solution is designed to help businesses simplify fuel administration, improve oversight and enhance operational efficiency through a fully digital platform.

Setel’s Chief Executive Officer, Abdullah Ayman Awaluddin, said digitalisation is transforming business operations, making smarter fuel management increasingly important.

He said Cardless PETRONAS SmartPay offers businesses greater visibility and control over fuel usage while reducing administrative work through a seamless digital experience.

The platform enables fleet managers to create digital SmartPay cards for registered drivers linked directly to their Setel accounts, eliminating the need for physical fuel cards.

All fuel transactions are recorded in a centralised dashboard, allowing fleet managers to monitor purchases in real time, access digital receipts, generate reports and set controls such as fuel type, refuelling frequency and designated PETRONAS stations.

Setel said the platform also enables businesses to manage fuel balances, driver access and transaction monitoring from a single system, while providing drivers with a cardless and cashless refuelling experience.

To further support fleet operations, Cardless PETRONAS SmartPay offers a higher top-up limit and an Auto Top-Up feature that automatically replenishes balances when they fall below a pre-set threshold, helping ensure uninterrupted operations.

Ayman said the SKDS expansion presents an opportunity for businesses to modernise fleet fuel management, improve operational efficiency and strengthen resilience through digital solutions.
