KUCHING: Angkatan Zaman Mansang (AZAM) Sarawak is exploring a strategic partnership with AFFIN Bank Berhad to strengthen financial literacy and leadership development among Sarawak’s youth, with the Premier of Sarawak Debate Challenge Cup (PSDC) 2026 identified as a key platform for collaboration.
The potential partnership was discussed during a courtesy visit by an AZAM Sarawak delegation, led by chief executive officer Ali Suhaili, to AFFIN Bank Berhad’s Sarawak Regional Office today (July 20).
Among the main proposals was AFFIN Bank’s involvement as a strategic partner for PSDC 2026, AZAM Sarawak’s flagship debating competition that brings together university students from higher education institutions across the state.
The 2026 edition is proposed to adopt the theme Youth Financial Empowerment, highlighting financial management, financial planning, responsible spending and informed decision making in an increasingly complex economic landscape.
The discussions also focused on expanding financial literacy initiatives through the debate competition, which aims to equip young Sarawakians with critical thinking, public speaking and leadership skills while promoting greater financial awareness.
Beyond the debate challenge, both organisations exchanged views on potential collaborations in youth development, talent development, financial education, community programmes and corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives.
The AZAM delegation was received by AFFIN Bank Sarawak banking director Victor Liew Wui Tak and strategic relationship manager (Sarawak) Nur Aalyya Irena Dusit.
According to a statement, the courtesy visit reflects AZAM Sarawak’s commitment to expanding strategic partnerships with agencies and organisations to strengthen human capital development and prepare young Sarawakians to meet future challenges.
