KUALA LUMPUR: The British Council has inked a two-year partner contract with Taylor’s University for the institution to be an IELTS test centre to meet a growing need of requests in the Sunway area.

British Council Malaysia Director Jazreel Goh said the collaboration was aimed at helping more students and professionals pursue opportunities in international education, career development and global mobility through greater access to the English language assessment.

“This partnership is about much more than providing a test venue. It is about enabling aspirations, creating pathways and ultimately, it is about helping people realise their ambitions in an increasingly global world,” she said.

Taylor’s University Vice-Chancellor and President Professor Barry Winn said the partnership reflected a shared commitment to equipping learners with the language skills needed to succeed in an increasingly connected world.

He said the new test centre, together with TALK @Taylor’s, the university’s integrated English and academic support hub, would provide students and the wider community with greater access to IELTS while helping them build confidence and communication skills for their studies and future careers.

The first IELTS test session at Taylor’s Lakeside Campus was held on March 27 this year, with candidates completing the examination successfully.

Among the inaugural candidates was Master in Applied Computing student, Zhamangulova Kanykei.

He said taking the test on campus in a familiar environment made the experience less stressful and more convenient.

According to British Council, the addition of Taylor’s University to its nationwide network of IELTS test centres forms part of its ongoing efforts to broaden access to trusted English language assessments that support academic, professional and migration aspirations across Malaysia.
