LUBOK ANTU: Two local men have been arrested by police for alleged involvement in drug abuse activities during a roadblock operation in Engkelili.

Lubok Antu district police chief DSP Pricha Azin said the two suspects, between 30 and 40 years old, were stopped during Op Bersepadu Pencegahan Jenayah at a roadblock along the Pan Borneo Highway on Jul 23.

He said both suspects were tested positive for amphetamine and methamphetamine through urine screening tests.

The case is being investigated under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

The roadblock operation involved 22 police personnel to prevent and combat crime and drug abuse, reducing index crime, as well as enhancing traffic law enforcement.

A total of 16 notices were issued for various traffic offences. Apart from that, 98 vehicles and 102 individuals have also been inspected.

Pricha assured the district police will remain committed to carrying out continuous operations and enforcement to ensure that safety, peace, and public order in the Lubok Antu district are always maintained.
