SRI AMAN: Tidal Bore Boxing Club (TTBC) Sri Aman has received a timely boost with new training equipment expected to strengthen its grassroots development programme and better prepare athletes for future competitions.
TTBC Sri Aman’s President, Awangku Hafizi Awang Azahari, said the contribution, made through the ‘Belia Unggul Komuniti Utuh dan Teguh’ (BUKUT) Programme under the APPGM-SDG initiative, will improve training quality while providing a safer environment for athletes.
He said the equipment will also enhance the club’s preparations for state and national-level competitions as it continues its efforts to develop young boxing talent.
“Grassroots development is the foundation for producing a new generation of disciplined, highly skilled and competitive athletes,” he said to Sarawak Tribune recently.
Awangku Hafizi said the club’s systematic approach extends beyond technical training by placing equal emphasis on developing mental resilience and physical fitness, both of which are essential for success in boxing.
He added that continuous guidance and structured coaching are key to ensuring a sustainable talent pipeline while strengthening Sarawak’s boxing performance in the years ahead.
As a testament to the club’s development programme, Awangku Hafizi highlighted the selection of Muhammad Irfan Mohamad Ishak to represent Sarawak at the 2026 Malaysia Games (SUKMA) in Selangor.
He described the achievement as recognition of the hard work and commitment shown by the athlete, coaches and club management, expressing hope that it would inspire more young people to take up the sport.
With strong support from its committee members, coaches, parents and the local community, TTBC Sri Aman continues to establish itself as one of Sarawak’s emerging boxing clubs with the potential to produce more high-performance athletes.
Awangku Hafizi expressed hope that sustained investment in youth development through sports would pave the way for more champions who can raise the profile of Sri Aman, Sarawak and Malaysia, in line with the club’s slogan, ‘I Will, I Can, Next Level’.
