Motorcyclist dies in accident

SELANGAU: A local man was killed in a crash along Jalan Pan Borneo Bintulu-Sibu today (July 28).

The 35-year-old victim was travelling along KM83 of the highway, from Bintulu towards Selangau, when the accident occurred at around 6 am.

Mukah police chief DSP Muhamad Rizal Alias said the victim, identified as Badiuzzaman Nordin, was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

“Preliminary investigations found that the victim is believed to have lost control of his motorcycle while negotiating a bend.

“The motorcycle reportedly skidded onto the left shoulder of the road, throwing the rider onto the road.

“As a result, the victim sustained severe head and hand injuries. His body was taken to Mukah Hospital for further action,” he said.

Muhamad Rizal said the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

Those who witnessed the accident or have information related to the incident are urged to contact investigating officer Insp Mohd Rahmat Jalimin at 011-31627137 or the nearest police station to assist with the investigation.

Police and Civil Defence Force (APM) members carry the victim’s body to a police truck to be transported to Mukah Hospital.
