KUCHING: Azizul Annuar Adenan has been re-elected president of Taekwondo Malaysia (TM/WT) for the 2026-2030 term following the association’s 13th Annual General Meeting (AGM) held recently in Kuala Lumpur.
Azizul, who also serves as president of Sarawak Taekwondo Association (TM/WT), retained the national body’s top post after polling 37 votes to Datuk Dr Arasu Thangaveloo’s 12.
Expressing his appreciation to the association’s affiliates, Azizul thanked members for their continued confidence and pledged to strengthen Malaysian taekwondo through unity, professionalism and good governance.
“I would like to sincerely thank all members for their trust, continued support, valuable advice and unwavering unity. I also extend my heartfelt congratulations to all newly elected Executive Committee members.
“Together, we will continue working towards elevating Malaysian taekwondo to greater heights,” he said.
Looking ahead, Azizul said Taekwondo Malaysia is ready for the Malaysia Games (SUKMA) 2026 in Selangor next month, with technical and organisational preparations for the taekwondo competition progressing smoothly.
He added that the association had also intensified preparations for the Southeast (SEA) Games 2027 in Kuching through athlete development programmes, coaching initiatives and greater competition exposure.
“The Executive Committee remains committed to providing the best support for our athletes, coaches and officials.
“We are optimistic that Malaysian taekwondo will continue to achieve success both regionally and internationally.
“We are ready and will go all out in our preparations for the 2027 SEA Games in Kuching, ensuring our athletes are fully equipped to compete with confidence and bring glory to Malaysia on home soil,” he said.
