MUKAH: Four local men were hauled up for drug-related offences after integrated enforcement operations uncovered methamphetamine and kratom abuse during targeted screenings on Wednesday (July 29).
The operations, carried out by the district police headquarters (IPD) and the National Anti-Drugs Agency (AADK), combined roadblocks, snap checks and crime prevention patrols across town, residential areas, villages, commercial centres, recreational sites and other strategic locations.
A roadblock was also mounted along Jalan Mukah-Balingian near the main junction to Kampung Jebungan.
Throughout the operations, officers inspected a total of 84 vehicles and screened 90 individuals.
Preliminary urine tests conducted by AADK on several suspicious individuals found three men positive for methamphetamine, while another tested positive for kratom.
All four local suspects were arrested under Section 4(1) of the Drug Dependants (Treatment and Rehabilitation) Act 1983 for further investigation.
The joint operations were led by Inspector Mohd Rahmat Jalimin and involved two senior police officers, 15 personnel from various Mukah IPD divisions, and five AADK officers from Mukah branch.
Police also issued 12 summonses to motorists and motorcyclists for various traffic offences detected during the operation.
Mukah police said similar integrated operations would continue to be intensified to curb criminal activities, combat drug abuse, and enhance compliance with traffic laws in a bid to ensure the safety and wellbeing of the public.
