KUCHING: Panglima Seman Boxing Club (P5SBC) emerged as the overall champions of the MFC x Sarawak Martial Arts Championship 3.0 after topping a competitive field of more than 160 athletes from 22 clubs.
Held last weekend at Boulevard Shopping Mall from August 1 to 2, the championship brought together competitors from across Sarawak as well as India, the Philippines and Indonesia, highlighting the tournament’s growing regional appeal.
Sting Muaythai Club finished runners-up in the overall standings, while MAD FIGHT (MMA) Club completed the podium in third.
Athletes competed across boxing, Muay Thai and mixed martial arts disciplines in what organisers described as the championship’s biggest and most competitive edition to date.
Organising chairman and tournament director Tsan Nieng Khai attributed the tournament’s continued growth to the confidence clubs have in its officiating and athlete welfare.
“Fairness and justice are the most important principles for us. The clubs trust our system and know that by sending their athletes here, they are competing on a safe and fair platform,” he told Sarawak Tribune.
The championship has continued to grow since its inaugural edition last July, which featured around 80 athletes from six or seven clubs, before attracting about 170 competitors in its second edition last November.
Tsan added that the tournament’s technical standards were strengthened by the appointment of Asia MMA’s chief referee from China as chief referee for the event.
He also announced that he will become Malaysia’s main distributor for Raja Combat Gear from China, a move he hopes will improve access to quality equipment and further support the development of combat sports in the country.
