KUCHING: A visit filled with words of encouragement and support has lifted the spirits of Sarawak’s rhythmic and artistic gymnasts as they continue their final preparations for Malaysia Games (SUKMA) Selangor 2026.
Sarawak Amateur Gymnastics Association’s (SAGYMA) Patron and Assistant Chef-de-Mission (ACDM), who is also a political secretary to the Premier of Sarawak, Kho Teck Wan, recently visited the Sarawak gymnastics contingent to meet the athletes and coaching team ahead of the national games.
The visit provided a timely boost to the gymnasts, with Kho offering words of motivation and encouragement as they prepare to carry Sarawak’s hopes in both rhythmic gymnastics (RG) and artistic gymnastics (AG).
SAGYMA’s President, Johnny Tan Seng Hock, told Sarawak Tribune recently that her presence and continued support had given the athletes greater confidence and motivation as they enter the final stages of their preparations.
Johnny also urged the gymnasts to remain focused, trust their training, and compete with courage, determination and pride when they take to the stage in SUKMA Selangor 2026.
“Every training session, sacrifice and challenge has brought them closer to their goals. We believe our athletes will give their best and represent Sarawak with pride,” he said.
He added that the support from state leaders and sports stakeholders remained an important source of encouragement for the athletes as they strive for success at the biennial Games.
“Together, we stand united as one team and one Sarawak. We hope our gymnasts will perform with confidence, achieve success and make Sarawak proud,” he reiterated.
“Thank you, Kho Teck Wan, for your continuous support, encouragement and commitment towards the development of gymnastics in Sarawak.”
