MOSCOW: The Finnish Border Guard announced that it has closed animal gates at all border fences with Russia due to African swine fever, reported Sputnik/RIA Novosti.
Earlier, African swine fever was recorded for the first time in Finland; laboratory tests confirmed the virus in a wild boar in the eastern part of the country. Border guards closed animal passages on June 1 along the southeastern section of the border.
“The Border Guard is temporarily closing game gates on all sections of the eastern border fence currently in use due to African swine fever,” the Border Guard said on X. – BERNAMA-SPUTNIK/RIA NOVOSTI
