KOTA SAMARAHAN: Efforts to empower Sarawak’s younger generation are being strengthened through two youth development programmes held in conjunction with Sarawak Youth Week 2026.
The Ministry of Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development Sarawak (MYSED), together with Angkatan Zaman Mansang (AZAM) Sarawak, organised the initiatives to promote mental wellbeing, self-confidence, communication skills and leadership among youths, according to a statement today (Aug 9).
The first programme, ‘Mind Quest: Learn, Collaborate, Grow’, will be held Monday (Aug 10) at Dewan Suarah Samarahan and will take participants through a series of interactive activities including Emotional Compass, Pressure Reset, Signal Bridge, Bounce Back: Plan B and Walk in My Shoes, before concluding with Final Quest: My Wellness Map.
The activities were designed to help participants understand their emotions, manage stress and build resilience in an environment that encouraged interaction, teamwork and shared experiences, the statement said.
The momentum continues on August 13 with ‘Youth Leadership: YouthMasters’ at the same venue, running from 8 am to 5 pm under the theme ‘Speak with Confidence, Lead with Purpose, Inspire Change’.
The programme, which also involves AZAM Young Souls and Toastmasters International, focuses on building communication confidence and leadership among youths, encouraging them to use their voice and ideas more effectively.
It is open to all interested youths, particularly those looking to sharpen their communication, leadership and self-development skills, with registration enquiries directed to Coddy at 013-8377186.
AZAM Sarawak is also pressing ahead this month with another flagship initiative, the Premier of Sarawak Debate Challenge Cup 2026, which will see 18 teams from 10 institutions of higher learning across Sarawak compete.
The Grand Final is set for August 18 at 7.30 pm at Dewan Jubli, UiTM Cawangan Sarawak, with free admission open to the public.
Themed ‘Engaging Minds, Advancing Sarawak’, the competition will see the two best teams battle it out for the inaugural championship title.
