KUCHING: The proposed development and upgrading of facilities at Tanjung Kembang Beach, Kabong, is set to give the district’s tourism sector a boost while creating new economic opportunities for the local community.
Kabong assemblyman Datuk Mohd Chee Kadir said the final design proposals for the project were being refined to ensure the development meets the needs of residents and visitors.
“The development will not only provide better facilities but also stimulate economic activities through tourism, food businesses, accommodation and recreation,” he said.
He said this after chairing the meeting on the construction and upgrading of Facilities at Tanjung Kembang Beach and the proposed Tanjung Kembang Beach foodcourt and homestay at the Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUN) building here recently.
He said the upgraded facilities could also support larger-scale events such as the Kabong International Kite Festival and Kabong International Beach Trail Marathon.
“Tanjung Kembang Beach has the potential to become one of Kabong’s key tourist attractions and further strengthen the area’s tourism sector,” he said.
He also thanked the Sarawak Government, particularly the Premier of Sarawak, for approving funding for the project through the Betong Development Agency (BDDA).
He hoped the project would be implemented smoothly and serve as a catalyst for local economic growth, create new opportunities for the community and enhance Kabong’s position as a competitive tourism destination in Sarawak.
