KUCHING: K-pop icons BIGBANG are set to make their long-awaited return with new digital single “BiiiG”, marking their first release in more than four years and their first as a trio.
The group announced that “BiiiG” will be released on Aug 19 at 6pm Korean Standard Time (KST), or 5pm Malaysian time, bringing an end to the lengthy wait for new music from G-Dragon, Taeyang and Daesung.
The single opens a new chapter in BIGBANG’s two-decade career as their first official release under the three-member line-up following the departure of rapper T.O.P.
BIGBANG’s previous single, “Still Life”, was released in April 2022 and featured G-Dragon, Taeyang, Daesung and T.O.P, making “BiiiG” the group’s first new song in more than four years.
The comeback also carries added significance as BIGBANG celebrate their 20th anniversary this year, having made their debut in August 2006.
“BiiiG” will arrive just two days before the group begin their anniversary world tour at Goyang Stadium in South Korea, with opening concerts scheduled from Aug 21 to 23.
The tour marks BIGBANG’s first world tour in about nine years and will take the trio across Asia, North America, Europe and Oceania as part of their anniversary celebrations.
Malaysian VIPs will also get their turn, with BIGBANG scheduled to perform at TM Stadium Nasional in Kuala Lumpur on Jan 9, 2027, marking the group’s return to the country for a full concert after more than a decade.
BIGBANG debuted under YG Entertainment in 2006 and became one of the defining acts of K-pop’s second generation, building a global following and helping expand the genre’s reach beyond South Korea.
Their return with “BiiiG”, followed almost immediately by a major world tour, now signals the beginning of a new era for the group as G-Dragon, Taeyang and Daesung take BIGBANG into its third decade.
