KOTA BHARU: The Kelantan Road Transport Department (JPJ) has detected offences involving driving instructors and Learner’s Driving Licences (LDL) during a Special Enforcement Operation targeting driving institutes conducted at 12 driving institutes in the state from Aug 3 until yesterday.
Its director, Mohd Misuari Abdullah, said the offences detected included failure to produce the Driving Institute Instructor’s Certificate (SPIM) and non-compliance with LDL requirements when vehicles were used without instructor supervision.
Other offences uncovered involved records and statements, technical vehicle maintenance, failure to display the Puspakom inspection disc, as well as expired Motor Vehicle Licences (LKM).
“A total of 350 vehicles were inspected, with action taken against 43 of them, while 100 notices were issued for various offences,” he told Bernama recently.
Mohd Misuari said compliance with regulations was crucial as driving institute vehicles are used to train candidates before they sit for their driving tests.
He said there are 16 driving institutes in Kelantan, and JPJ will continue to conduct regular inspections to ensure that the management of instructors, records, maintenance and vehicle safety met the set requirements. – BERNAMA
