KUCHING: Two women were each sentenced to one month’s jail by the Magistrates’ Court here on Tuesday (Aug 11) after pleading guilty to stealing a box of health and beauty supplements worth RM265.11 from a pharmacy and health chain outlet in June.

Dang Acih Kiplee, 29, and Nurul Aishahsari Ibrahim, 25, entered their guilty plea to a joint charge read before Magistrate Leona Dominic Mojiliu.

Both were charged under Section 380 of the Penal Code, read together with Section 34 of the same Code.

They were accused of jointly committing the offence at a shopping mall on Jalan Tun Ahmad Zaidi Adruce at about 6.38pm on June 29.

According to the facts of the case, a shop worker, who was the complainant, spotted the two women inside the store premises while making her rounds.

The complainant recognised both women as they passed by but did not detain them, as she had not witnessed them stealing.

She later reviewed CCTV footage, which showed the pair removing a sensor tag from a box of supplements before placing it into a paper bag they were carrying.

Both accused were arrested by police at two separate locations on Aug 8.

Investigations found that the pair had stolen the items for personal use.

Further investigations revealed that both accused had committed theft repeatedly.

The prosecution was handled by deputy public prosecutor Ahmad Fauzulutfi Suriani while both accused were unrepresented by counsel.
