KUCHING: Maxim Malaysia, together with Sarawak General Hospital (SGH), presented gift packs and free ride vouchers to 50 mothers during World Breastfeeding Week.
The initiative sought to ease transportation concerns for new mothers while providing practical gifts, including feeding bottles and a baby’s first toy.
Maxim Malaysia director Mohd Hazwan Musley said, “Sometimes the most important things are the simplest ones.”
He said the assistance was intended to help mothers travel without worrying about transportation, while giving them greater comfort during the early days of motherhood.
Nurses said the mothers were all smiles upon receiving the surprise, with many admitting they had not expected the gifts or assistance.
Some mothers also said transportation had been a slight concern, particularly for those travelling long distances or returning home with older children.
The ride vouchers may be used after discharge for medical appointments, short walks or other journeys, helping mothers travel without additional transportation worries.
SGH is Sarawak’s main public tertiary referral hospital and largest healthcare facility, managing maternity cases referred from district hospitals and private medical centres.
SGH representatives said, “When a business pays attention to such details, it warms the heart.”
The collaboration reflects Maxim Malaysia’s efforts to support mothers and newborns at one of Sarawak’s most important maternity centres.
World Breastfeeding Week, observed from Aug 1 to 7, provides an opportunity to highlight breastfeeding support and practical assistance for mothers.
Maxim Malaysia is considering making similar engagements a regular initiative and expanding the programme to maternity wards in other Malaysian cities.
Maxim was launched in Malaysia in 2019, with its first order completed in Kuantan, and the service now operates across all states.
Since then, the company has developed technology for ordering transport, delivery and other services, focusing on accessibility, safety and convenience for users.
The Maxim and Taxsee Driver applications are available through major platforms, including Google Play Store, App Store and Huawei AppGallery, among others.
