KUCHING: All 132 booths for MATTA Fair Sarawak 2026 have been taken up, with more exhibitors placed on a waiting list ahead of the two-day travel fair at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) next weekend.
Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (MATTA) Sarawak Chapter Chairperson, Dayang Azizah Abang Zaidan, said the strong response from exhibitors reflected positive momentum in the travel industry as more people returned to travelling.
“That means it is very good for the industry and good for travel agents. People are travelling,” she told reporters during a press conference at the MATTA Sarawak Chapter Office on Thursday (Aug. 13).
MATTA Fair Sarawak 2026 will be held from 9:00 am to 9:00 pm on August 22-23, bringing together licensed travel agents and tourism industry players offering domestic and international travel packages. Admission is free.
Dayang Azizah said visitors would be able to compare travel packages, explore new destinations and select holiday options according to their budgets and preferred travel styles.
Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG), together with Malaysia Airlines and Firefly, will participate through appointed travel agents, with exclusive flight deals and promotions to be made available during the fair.
“On Malaysia Airlines offers, you have to stay tuned on that day. I am sure they will give very attractive prices as well as fares for international destinations which you don’t get on other days,” she said.
Dayang Azizah also welcomed government efforts to improve air connectivity, saying greater flight options would make travelling more convenient and encourage the movement of domestic and international tourists.
Meanwhile, visitors who make purchases during the fair will also have opportunities to participate in the Buyers’ Contest.
MAG will provide flight tickets as part of the prizes, while other sponsors will contribute hotel stays, tourism products and other vouchers.
Sponsors include Borneo Happy Farm, Grand Margherita Hotel, Hilton Kuching, Hotel Grand Continental Kuching, Mega Hotel, Meritz Hotel Miri, Pullman Kuching, Riverside Majestic Hotel, Sarawak River Cruise, Sarawak Tourism Board, Sematan Palm Beach Resort, and The Meritin Hotel.
Dayang Azizah shared that the involvement of MAG, RHB Bank Bhd, hotels and other tourism industry players, together with packages offered by MATTA members, would provide travellers with a wide selection of holiday options.
“MATTA Sarawak Chapter looks forward to welcoming visitors to take advantage of the many offers available, whether they are planning a short domestic getaway, a family holiday, or their next international adventure,” she said.
