SELANGOR: Sarawak judoka Carmen Lee Jia Wen is one victory away from the women’s -48kg final after advancing to the semi-finals at the 2026 Malaysia Games (SUKMA) on Friday (Aug 14) today.
Carmen kept her gold medal hopes alive with a composed quarter-final victory over Pahang’s Aila Marissa Abdul Raafi at the IDCC Ideal Convention Centre.
The Sarawak athlete controlled the contest to secure victory with one ippon and one yuko, while Aila was penalised with one shido.
The win sends Carmen into the last four, where she will meet Johor’s Ashrien Natasya Nadia Abdul Rahman for a place in the gold medal bout later today.
With momentum on her side, Carmen will now be aiming to take another step towards the podium and deliver a gold medal for Sarawak.
