KUCHING: Kuching City FC’s (KCFC) new 2026/2027 season jerseys are more than a fresh look for the team, carrying the fighting spirit and football identity of Sarawak through the iconic “Ngap Sayot” legacy.
The club’s president, Datuk Fazzrudin Abdul Rahman, said the red-and-black away jersey was inspired by the colours and identity associated with the Ngap Sayot team, with hopes that its fighting spirit would inspire the players as they enter a more challenging campaign.
“The away jersey takes inspiration from the Ngap Sayot team, which used red and black colours. The design also draws inspiration from that team.
“We hope the Ngap Sayot spirit can be instilled in the KCFC players,” he told reporters after the launch of KCFC’s new jerseys at Plaza Merdeka, here, today (Aug 16).
Fazzrudin, who also leads the Football Association of Sarawak (FAS) for the 2025-2027 term, said the symbolism behind the colours was especially meaningful as KCFC prepares for another season following its historic run last season.
He said the team’s achievement in reaching the Malaysia Cup final for the first time in the 2025/2026 season reflected the resurgence of Sarawak football and provided a strong foundation for the club to aim higher.
The new red-and-black away jersey features a prominent checkered pattern, complemented by yellow detailing around the collar, sleeves and other sections, giving it a bold and energetic appearance.
Alongside the away kit, the club unveiled a green-and-white home jersey, reflecting The Cats’ familiar identity. The front features a two-tone design, with striped detailing on the collar and sleeve ends.
The club also introduced several goalkeeper designs, including yellow, orange-and-green and orange-and-purple combinations, offering a wider variety across the new collection.
Fazzrudin said six jerseys had been prepared for the new season, covering the first team and goalkeepers across the home, away and third-kit categories.
“Some of the jerseys are already available for purchase, with the first and third jerseys currently available to fans.
“Each jersey is priced at RM149, and supporters can get the official jerseys as a show of support for the team,” he said.
The launch attracted a strong turnout at Plaza Merdeka, with supporters of different ages gathering to see the new designs, meet players and show their support for The Cats.
While the collection introduces several new colours and designs, the club hopes one identity remains at its core: the Sarawak spirit and the fighting mentality represented by “Ngap Sayot”.
The new jerseys therefore mark more than the beginning of another season, serving as a symbol of KCFC’s ambition to build on last season’s historic achievement and create more history in 2026/2027.
