KUALA LUMPUR: All 43 sports for the 2027 SEA Games have been confirmed, with the Games to be staged across Kuala Lumpur, Sarawak, Penang and Johor.
The confirmation was made during a meeting involving the Olympic Council of Malaysia (OCM), Malaysia SEA Games Organising Committee (MASOC), National Sports Council (NSC) and Sarawak Local Organising Committee (LOC) Secretariat here on Monday (Aug 17).
According to a report by the Sarawak Public Communications Unit (UKAS), several outstanding matters relating to preparations for the Games were also discussed during the meeting.
It was chaired by MASOC chief executive officer Datuk Abdul Rashid Yaakub and attended by Sarawak LOC Secretariat chairman Datuk Hii Chang Kee, as well as representatives from OCM and NSC.
The 34th SEA Games, themed ‘Celebrating Unity’, will take place from Sept 18 to 29, 2027.
Sarawak will be involved as a SEA Games host for the first time, with 18 sports to be contested at several venues around Kuching.
The state will also host the opening ceremony at Sarawak Stadium in Petra Jaya.
Malaysia will be hosting the regional sporting event for the seventh time.
