KUCHING: The Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM) will continue its commitment to ensuring the Institut Kemahiran Islam Malaysia Sarawak (IKMAS) remains relevant and continues to progress.
Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) Dr Zulkifli Hasan said continued attention would be given to allocations, infrastructure and the welfare of staff and students.
“We want to see IKMAS not only excel at the domestic level but also become a regional reference hub for Islamic education and skills.
“Allocations, infrastructure facilities, and the welfare of staff and students will continue to receive attention to ensure that the learning ecosystem at IKMAS remains at its best,” he said.
He said this in his welcoming speech during the 22nd Convocation Ceremony of the Institut Kemahiran Islam Malaysia Sarawak (IKMAS) 2026 at Sarawak Islamic Complex hall here Tuesday (Aug 18).
The ceremony was officiated by Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, who conferred diplomas and certificates on the graduates.
Established 25 years ago, IKMAS has produced 1,717 graduates across various fields of study, including the Diploma in Islamic Studies and Dakwah, Diploma in Islamic Dakwah, Diploma in Quranic Memorisation and Al-Qiraat (Diploma Tahfiz al-Quran dan al-Qiraat), Certificate in Basic Islamic Studies and Certificate in Islamic Studies.
For this year’s convocation, 102 graduates received the Diploma in Islamic Dakwah, 12 the Diploma in Quranic Memorisation and Al-Qiraat, and 15 obtained the Certificate in Islamic Studies.
