MIRI: CCTV footage and intelligence-led police work led to the arrest of two people allegedly involved in the theft of car rims from a store at Eastwood Valley Industrial Estate, here.
Miri district police said the suspects, a 35-year-old local man and a 40-year-old local woman, were believed to have entered the store by climbing into the premises before taking the rims.
The suspects allegedly fled the scene in a Perodua Myvi after the theft.
Following checks on the CCTV recordings, police gathered information and conducted intelligence work to identify and track down the suspects.
A team from the Crime Prevention Operations (OPJ) Unit of Miri Central Police Station subsequently arrested both suspects in Kampung Pujut.
The operation was led by Miri Central Police Station chief ASP Goldy Jangan.
Police also seized items believed to be connected to the case, which have been recorded as exhibits for further investigation.
The case is being investigated under Section 379 of the Penal Code, which relates to theft.
