KUCHING: Malaysians are urged to display the Jalur Gemilang at their homes as a meaningful expression of patriotism and love for the country.
The appeal was made through the ‘Satu Rumah Satu Jalur Gemilang’ campaign under the JaPen Arena Penggerak Komuniti programme, involving various community clusters.
Director of the Information Department (JaPen) Sarawak Sabri Said informed that the programme aimed to spread awareness about the campaign while encouraging Malaysians to display the national flag.
He said the programme comprised 17 clusters, with the government offices cluster being completed at the Sarawak Federal Secretary’s Office.
“We are completing one cluster here, namely the Government Offices cluster, before proceeding to meet the Royal Malaysia Police under the Security cluster,” he said.
Sabri shared that the programme would subsequently involve Kuching Airport under the relevant cluster before concluding with Normah Medical Centre under the Health cluster.
He said the initiative focused on encouraging everyone, including civil servants and employees in other sectors, to display the Jalur Gemilang.
“The main message is to fly the Jalur Gemilang; Satu Rumah Satu Jalur Gemilang,” he said during the presentation of the campaign kits.
The presentation was held at the Sarawak Federal Secretary’s Office, Sultan Iskandar Building, followed by a programme at the Kuching District Police Headquarters at 10.30am.
Sabri relayed the campaign was not primarily intended to distribute large quantities of flags, but rather to create public awareness about displaying the national symbol.
“We are not distributing the flags on a large scale this time, because that is not the objective of our programme,” he said adding that the public could purchase Jalur Gemilang from various shops and display the flags at their respective homes or premises.
According to him, displaying the national flag provided an opportunity for Malaysians to demonstrate their patriotic spirit, regardless of their occupation or background.
“Our department only distributes flags during programmes we organise, while we encourage the public to purchase and display their own flags,” he said.
Sabri added that collective participation from the community would help strengthen the spirit of patriotism and encourage Malaysians to celebrate the National Day season.
He reiterated the campaign also served as a reminder that displaying the Jalur Gemilang was a simple yet meaningful way to express love for the country.
