SELANGOR: Sarawak’s women’s sepak takraw team’s bronze medal at SUKMA Selangor 2026 has provided an important benchmark and morale boost for the squad ahead of its remaining events.
Having said this, Sarawak Sepak Takraw Association (PSS) President Datuk Ismail Abang Saufi described the achievement as a proud moment for the association.
“Congratulations to the women’s squad for securing the bronze medal.
“Although they faced pressure at the start of the competition, they managed to overcome it well,” he told Sarawak Tribune.
Ismail also praised the players’ mental resilience in their closely contested bronze-medal match against hosts Selangor yesterday (Aug 18).

“The players showed an exceptional fighting spirit yesterday. They played according to the game plan that had been prepared,” he said.
He also reminded the players to remain focused as they turn their attention to the remaining events.
“Our players will compete in several other categories, including doubles and quadrants.
“We hope they can remain focused because we believe there are still good opportunities to add to our medal tally in both events. Most importantly, they must not underestimate their opponents in the matches ahead,” he said.
Sarawak secured the women’s team bronze yesterday after defeating hosts Selangor 2-1 in a closely fought encounter.
