JAKARTA, Indonesia: Indonesia’s SEFAS Group is set to acquire 100 per cent of Shell’s petrol station business in the country, with the transaction expected to be completed this year, subject to regulatory approval and other customary conditions.

Its Chief Executive Officer, Ricky Roesli, said the company is Shell’s largest lubricant distributor in Indonesia and described the acquisition as the next step in its business, while supporting the future growth of Indonesia’s energy retail sector.

Ricky said local ownership would provide a strong foundation for the next phase of the business’s development.

“Our ambition is to build one of the most trusted and sustainable energy retail businesses in Indonesia, while supporting the country’s economic growth and its evolving energy needs,” he said in a statement.

Meanwhile, Shell Indonesia’s President Director, Andri Pratiwa, said SEFAS is a long-standing partner of Shell in Indonesia, with a deep understanding of the local market and customer needs.

“SEFAS is a long-standing partner of Shell in Indonesia and has a deep understanding of the local market, customer needs, as well as a well-established network to support the next phase of business growth,” he said.

SEFAS said it would continue the process to acquire full ownership of the business, with its main priority being to ensure a smooth transition while maintaining safe and reliable operations.

The company added that customers would continue to see the Shell brand in Indonesia under a brand licensing arrangement, with continuity of services for customers, employees and partners. – BERNAMA
