LONDON, England: Three Argentina players have been banned for their involvement in a brawl at the end of last month’s World Cup final against Spain, while the team has also been fined over the display of a Falkland Islands banner following their semi-final win over England, reported PA Media/dpa.
Midfielder Leandro Paredes has been hit hardest, receiving a 10-match ban and a USD90,000 fine from FIFA’s disciplinary committee, while defender Nahuel Molina was handed a seven-match suspension and fined the same amount.
Thiago Almada was given a one-match ban and a USD30,000 fine for unsporting behaviour, while Argentina assistant coach, Roberto Ayala, was banned for three matches and fined the same amount.
Spain’s Gavi was also given a one-match ban and a USD30,000 fine for unsporting behaviour.
